Employer group benefit plans can be purchased anytime during the year. An employer has the ability to setup health & pharmacy plans as well as vision, dental, life and disability plans for qualified employees.
Every year individual health insurance has an "Open Enrollment". This means a person who wants an individual health insurance plan needs to enroll during this time for a January 1st effective date. Open Enrollment is from November 1st through December 15th. The only enrollment exceptions to this are conditions called "Qualifying Events".
